Thursday 21st May 2020 - SCHOOL RE-OPENING UPDATE

Dear Parents,

I hope you are all safe and well and as eager as we are to see some kind of normality resuming in our lives. I am also conscious that there has been a huge amount of advice and guidance in the press about primary schools’ ambitions to reopen for several of our classes from 1st June, so I am writing to share our plans.

Rest assured we are very keen to open but need to feel confident that the health and well-being of our children and staff is not compromised. Consequently, we have been involved in a lot of discussions with the Local Authority and our team at Russells Hall to devise a comprehensive and detailed plan to enable this to commence.

The current plan is for Russells Hall Primary to open week commencing Monday 1st June 2020 (subject to changes to government  advice).

The reopening plans will adopt a phased approach, which may include a shorter school day and be on a part time basis. This proposal is also inclusive of a comprehensive risk assessment. Some of the key points in the proposal for reopening are as follows:

Home learning will continue to be provided for all children who are not attending school.  Our lovely celebration videos will also continue on our Facebook page on a Friday afternoon.

Start and finish times will be staggered slightly

Key Workers to continue as you have been since the end of March.

Y6  from 2nd June, arrival at 9.00, finish at 3.15

Y1 from 4th June, arrival at  9.15, finish

at 3.00

Reception  from 8th June, arrival at 9.30, finish at 2.45.

ALL PARENTS IN YEAR 6, YEAR 1 AND RECEPTION ARE BEING SENT AN EMAIL IN THE NEXT TWO DAYS OUTLINING THESE PLANS IN MORE DETAIL. PLEASE LOOK OUT FOR IT AND REPLY VIA THE INFO ADDRESS.

Stay safe and warmest wishes,

Jen Brown and everyone at Russells Hall

Wednesday 8th April

Update for key workers: school will be closed on Friday this week but will be open again on Monday onwards from 8am to 5pm for any key workers who have booked their children in for childcare. Please keep us updated with your childcare needs over the next few weeks via info@russells.dudley.sch.uk so we can rota staff effectively. Thank you so much to everyone for following the Government guidance to keep children at home if there is an adult to look after them. Stay safe.

Friday 3rd April

FSM

Vouchers for Free School Meals will be  available from 20th April so you will no longer need to come to school to collect food parcels.  The voucher will be sent to your phone or email address. We are not expected to supply food during Easter but hope to have this sorted by the end of the holiday. Stay safe.

Friday 3rd April

Dear Parents,

Thank you all for the fantastic feedback from the work we have set so far. Whilst school will be open for childcare for the children of key workers only, with staff on a rota, we would like to remind you that as we should have been breaking up for Easter today, there will be no work set for the next two weeks, in the hope that you can all enjoy some family time together.

Please be on the look out for your next learning tasks on Google Classroom ( or Tapestry for Reception) from Monday 20th April. Have a good Easter, stay safe and we do hope to see you all very soon.

Wednesday 25th March

Year 2 Google Classroom is now live!

To enable us to set tasks and to do our best to keep in touch with your children during this time, a new Google Classroom has now been created for all Year 2 children. To access this new online classroom, please follow these instructions:

  • Click on the 'Learning Resources' gold star at the bottom of this page.
  • From there, click on RM Unify. This will take you to the RM login page.
  • Your child can now log on using the username and password that they use at school.
  • Open Google Classroom.
  • You will see an invitation to join the new classroom on the class icon.
  • Accept the invitation and that's it, you're in!

If you have any problems accessing this new page, please contact school and we will do our best to help. We will be updating the page with tasks and sharing links that we think might be of interest and useful for your child whilst learning at home.
