This website is run by Russells Hall Primary School and this statement applies to Home | Russells Hall Primary School. We want as many people as possible to be able to use this website. For example, that means you should be able to:

  • Form auto complete: adding validation to forms enables our forms to be autocompleted

  • Parents evening: Our parents' evening platform is fully keyboard-navigable, screen reader compatible, and designed to meet visual accessibility standards, ensuring compliance with colour contrast and text readability guidelines.

  • Clubs: Our club booking platform is fully keyboard-navigable, screen reader compatible, and designed to meet visual accessibility standards, ensuring compliance with colour contrast and text readability guidelines.

  • Courses: Our courses platform is fully keyboard-navigable, screen reader compatible, and designed to meet visual accessibility standards, ensuring compliance with colour contrast and text readability guidelines.

Non-compliance with the accessibility regulations

School exemption

Some content on this website is exempt from the accessibility regulations. This includes:

  • Older PDFs and other documents: Many of our PDFs published before 23 September 2018 are not fully accessible. These are not essential to providing our services and are therefore exempt.

  • Third-party content: Content that is not under our control, such as embedded Google Maps or third-party booking/payment platforms, may not meet accessibility standards. We are not responsible for the accessibility of these services.

  • Live video: Live-streamed events are exempt from the requirement to provide captions.

If you need information in an alternative format (such as accessible PDF, large print, easy read, audio recording, or braille), please contact us and we will provide it where possible.

Non-compliant content

Some parts of this website are not fully accessible. We are aware of the following issues:

  • PDFs and documents: Some newer PDFs and downloadable resources may not be fully accessible to screen reader users.

    • Action: We are gradually replacing PDFs with accessible HTML pages or ensuring new PDFs meet accessibility standards.

  • Forms: A small number of forms with bespoke styling may be difficult to use with screen readers or keyboard navigation.

    • Action: We are working with our website provider to rebuild forms in an accessible format by July 2026.

  • Images: Not all images have suitable alternative text.

    • Action: We are conducting an audit of all images by December 2025 and will correct any missing or unclear alt text.

  • Videos: Some videos may not have captions or transcriptions.

    • Action: We aim to provide captions and/or transcripts for all new video content from January 2026 onwards.

  • Colour contrast: Some older content may use brand colours that do not meet minimum contrast requirements.

    • Action: We are updating styles to ensure compliance with WCAG 2.2 AA colour contrast standards by March 2026.

We aim to resolve most accessibility issues within 12 months, prioritising content essential to accessing our services.

Ongoing Efforts

We are continually working to improve the accessibility of our website by:

  • Screen reader compatibility: whilst our website has been built include functionality that works with screen readers, we may need to make some improvements by working with our website provider.

  • Regular audits and user testing: We commit to annual audits and user testing.

  • User feedback: We will incorporate feedback from users to enhance accessibility.

  • Keeping up-to-date: We will endeavour to keep up to date with evolving accessibility standards and best practices.

Third-Party Content

While we aim to ensure all content on our website is accessible, some third-party materials or linked resources may not fully meet accessibility standards. We encourage you to contact us if you have difficulties accessing external content.

The Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC) is responsible for enforcing the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018 (the ‘accessibility regulations’).
